The story centers around a depressed writer Solo (Ribisi). Solo is a falling writer who has spent all his earnings from his first book on his therapy. He is actually addicted to these therapies after the failure of his novel and his bankruptcy forces him to borrow money from some shady characters like Benny (Kevin Corrigan) and also his only friend Casper (Scott Caan). He is advised to get a dog by his soon to be ex-therapist Dr. Nourmand (Don Cheadle). His life becomes more complicated, as the dog becomes a catalyst for the change in his life. The story takes turn when solo falls in love with Lola (Lynn Collins) a stripper.
