Frank (Jason Lee) and Eddie (Crispin Glover) are wanna-be gangsters who are trying to come up with enough money to leave small town Texas. Spider (Pruitt Taylor Vince) a local wise guy, tells them they can make a lot of money by driving a truck to Mexico for him. The truck is full of bootlegged cigarettes, and unfortunately for Frank and Eddie, it turns out to have been boobietrapped and they end up owing Spider $250,000. Eddie, who once was a gravedigger, finds out that a stripper has died and has been buried wearing an expensive diamond necklace. The boys come up with a hair-brained scheme to dig up the stripper, take the diamonds, and hold her dead body for ransom from her rich boyfriend.
