The movie revolves around a young couple and an old lady, who become neighbors in a New York City duplex. For Alex Rose (Ben Stiller) and Nancy Kendricks (Drew Barrymore) this gorgeous duplex is a dream come true. However, their dreams turn into a nightmare when they find out that Mrs. Connelly is not as senile and ill as they thought she would be. Mrs. Connelly is well aware of everything and she keeps the couple up every night with her loud TV or music. Combined with her continuous demands Mrs. Connelly ultimately causes the couple to have hateful feeling towards her. Now the war begins and Alex and Nancy are trying to find a way to get rid of the old lady.
